New Age Exploration completes Phase 1 aircore drilling at Wagyu gold project
Three of four gravity highs found to be intrusive systems
Phase 2 drilling will start within two weeks
Special Report: New Age Exploration has completed the Phase 1 aircore drill program at its Wagyu gold project in WA’s Pilbara region and is now waiting to bite into assay results.
The 156-hole drill program totalling 7640m had tested Hemi-style gold targets, including four gravity highs identified in the April 2024 geophysics survey, on the eastern side of the project.
It found that three of the four gravity highs were intrusive systems with two of these interpreted from drill samples to be intermediate intrusive rocks.
New Age Exploration (ASX:NAE) notes that all samples have arrived at minerals assay laboratory Intertek in Perth to be assayed for gold and multi-elements with results expected by the end of September.
“We are thrilled that our Phase 1 drilling program at the Wagyu Gold Project is complete and eagerly await the assay results,” executive director Joshua Wellisch said.
“This initial phase concentrated on examining our high-priority gold targets, including identifying a 'Hemi-Style' intrusive system. The programme was conducted safely and efficiently, which is a credit to our technical team and exploration contractors.
“We are very encouraged by the geology and we will continue our search for gold at Wagyu shortly with the commencement of the Phase 2 drill and samples program in the next two weeks.”
Wagyu gold project
The Wagyu gold project in the well-endowed Central Pilbara gold region represents a highly prospective opportunity just ~9km along strike from De Grey Mining’s (ASX:DEG) giant 10.5Moz Hemi gold deposit.
Phase 2 aircore drilling will follow up on the first phase drilling and will be followed by reverse circulation drilling in October and November.
Additional ground gravity and passive seismic surveys are also planned at Wagyu including carrying out work on the dry Yule Riverbed.
Results from these programs will be crucial in further understanding the potential of the Wagyu project and planning subsequent exploration activities.
