Sea Swift sold to Queensland Govt owned investment company

Darwin, Gove and Groote Eylandt barge and shipping service operator Sea Swift has been sold to a Queensland based company.

NT barge and shipping service Sea Swift has been sold to a Queensland based company, owned by the Queensland Government, after exclusive negotiations with the existing owners.

Sea Swift provides services in and around Darwin, Gove and Groote Eylandt in the NT, as well as a number of services in Queensland.

Sea Swift chief executive Fred White said Sea Swift was looking forward to Queensland Investment Corporation’s management in developing the growth of the business and the service offering to its customers.

“We’re pleased to have found a strong long-term focused and socially responsible partner in QIC, which shares our commitment to safety and customer service,” he said.

“QIC is one of the largest owners of transportation infrastructure in Australia, and in particular

brings extensive experience managing marine transportation assets, including being the equal largest shareholder of the Port of Melbourne and Port of Brisbane.”

QIC said in a statement it had no plans for significant changes to the day-to-day operations of the business.
