A REJUVENATED Cavenagh Hotel opened its doors just in time for knock-off drinks Friday afternoon.
The iconic pub has undergone a $2 million facelift.
Cav Hotel general manager Ricki Scott teamed with 44 tradies to redo the main bar, also expanding the kitchen and outdoor area.
The gaming room has increased to house more pokies.
All the work, bar the installation of an automated baby grand piano, will have been completed in 16 days. Yesterday they were working overtime to get the place finished.
“We’ve had some long days to get it done,” Mr Scott said. “At one point we had a crane to put in a new grease trap.
“We cooked lunch for the crew every day to keep them going.”
Mr Scott said the main dining and bar area had been opened up and squared off.
“There is now banquet seating around the walls and we’ve replaced the furniture and added eight TV and increased airconditioning capability by 50 per cent,” he said.
“Our chef Lee-Amy Bell and staff are working up a new menu for the dry season but we wanted them to settle into the new expanded kitchen first.”
The expanded kitchen now includes the Brazilian charcoal, which will have offerings five days a week.
