A “CALCULATION error” has been speculated as the cause of structural issues in the nine non-compliant buildings around Darwin and Palmerston.
Master Builders Association NT chief executive Dave Malone concluded from observation it was likely an error in measurement.

“People make mistakes, one here seems to be about calculations,” he said.
“My understanding is the owners are working through their issues and we’ll see what comes from that.”
He said it shouldn’t be a reflection of the quality of construction in the NT.
“It’s a very good industry, people pride themselves on delivering good products,” he said.
The Catalyst building on Finniss St is the only structure named.
Mr Malone said the remaining eight buildings would likely become public.
“Owners would be informed, they’d have an obligation to inform tenants,” he said.

The Department of Infrastructure, Logistics and Planning was contacted for comment but did not respond by deadline.
