The revitalisation of the gold and copper-rich Tennant Creek mining district and examples of promising exploration campaigns in Central Australia will be highlighted to hundreds of delegates in Alice Springs this week for the Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES).
AGES is among Australia’s leading technical resource exploration conferences and provides pre-competitive geoscience data, investment attraction, and exploration stimulus to increase activity and unlock new areas for Territory development.
It will feature presentations from the NT Geological Survey, Geoscience Australia and mineral and energy exploration industry sector.
This year’s AGES program also has a strong focus on the Top End, including recent geoscience undertaken to drive a new generation of mineral discoveries and developments in the Pine Creek region.
Participants will be given important insight into the Northern Territory’s latest resource exploration results and resource development opportunities.
Technical presentations on lithium, graphite, and rare earths will explore the Territory’s growing role in supplying critical minerals, while talks on exploration for the NT’s traditional commodities such as gold, zinc, and gas will illustrate how valuable such projects are to the current and future growth of the Territory’s economy.
The AGES event is accompanied by the Mining Services Expo, which showcases Territory businesses and their capabilities in supporting exploration and mining projects.
Mining and Energy Minister Gerard Maley said AGES was an opportunity to showcase the Territory’s exceptional resource prospectivity and attract further investment into the minerals sector, which is a leading component of our own source revenue.
“Our government must rebuild the economy, and a strong and competitive resources sector is key to creating jobs and driving growth,” Mr Maley said.
“AGES is key to our strategy to ensure the Northern Territory remains a leading jurisdiction for exploration and mining investment.
“The conference provides industry with the latest exploration highlights and access to world-class geoscience data.
“Our five strategic economic priorities will guide our efforts over the coming years: be the best place to do business; build a bigger, better workforce; deliver for Australia; unlock regional growth; and connect the Territory.”
