A Palmerston pub forced closed by an infrastructure failure management pinned on its landlord will host a mega party to celebrate its relaunch, while also revealing it’s used the downtime to undertake a suite of renovations.
The Landmark @ Gateway shut its doors suddenly in early October, publishing the news via its social media and prompting a wave of speculation it had been ordered shut by NT Health’s Environmental Health branch.
However, management subsequently clarified the pub made the decision to close itself, prompted by what it described as an “infrastructure failure” – understood to be related to its sewerage system – it claimed was attributable to its landlord, Gateway Shopping Centre.
This week, The Landmark @ Gateway’s owner, Colemans Hospitality Group, said it was planning a “mega reopening weekend” commencing Friday, November 29.
New venue manager Taylor Ackerley said the two-month closure provided an opportunity to give the venue a well-deserved refresh, especially in the basement Underground Bar, where major improvements were made.
“This reopening is about celebrating all the things our community loves about the ‘Landy’, but with a fresh twist,” she said.
“Most of the renovations have occurred in the underground bar and we’re excited about relaunching this space.
“We’ve built a new stage, upgraded audio and lighting systems, added new seating and a VIP area, renovated the rest rooms and generally given the area an updated look, so we can’t wait to welcome our patrons back.”
Ms Ackerley conceded it had been a difficult few months for the pub, but management was champing at the bit to begin pulling beers again for local punters.
“We thank everyone for their patience as we’ve tackled what has been a challenging time and look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Landy,” she said.
“As we head into the festive season, we’re also taking bookings for Christmas functions and we’re also ready to launch our Saints and Sinners New Year’s Eve Party.”
Plans for the reopening weekend party include:
– Free entry all weekend.
– Prizes, giveaways and drinks specials.
– Entertainment including Josh & Andy alongside Connor Wyatt, interstate acts including DJ Kaitlyn and a special guest DJ to be announced, DJ Sonix, DJ Zookeeper and live band The Trucker Hat Appreciation Society (formerly The Captain).
