Territory travellers can save hundreds of dollars as Jetstar’s Boxing Day sale delivers discounts
Jetstar’s annual Boxing Day sale promises plenty of savings for domestic and international travellers, but the news has raised some eyebrows. Read how much it will cost to get in and out of town.

Territorians have until late Tuesday night to snap up discount Jetstar airfares.
The discount airline’s annual Boxing Day sale this year offers about 80,000 cut-price fares nationally and overseas including special prices for flights into and out of Darwin.
While welcome, there was frustration that that were no discount international flights out of Darwin.
The discounted Melbourne and Sydney flights are after the school holidays and there are no flights to Bali.
Vijay Lakshmanan took to social media to share his concerns.
“Very disappointed sale from Jetstar … nothing for Darwin. Not even worth looking at international flights as there isn’t any,” he wrote on Facebook.
Tanya Grygorcewicz posted: “As usual Jetstar Australia you look after people on the east coast for great airfares and destinations!”
Danielle Mintern wrote: “Still no Bali flights in sales this year? When?”
Travellers can fly from Darwin to Adelaide for $129 for trips between January 19 and March 30 2023 and $149 fares from Darwin to Sydney and Darwin to Melbourne are available for flights between 31 January and 30 March 2023.
Darwin to Cairns and Cairns to Darwin are priced from $149 each way for flights between mid-January and March 29.
Tickets from Melbourne to Darwin for flights between February 2 and March 31 and from Sydney to Darwin from March 4 until 31 March are also available from $149.
Domestic fares such as Sydney to Byron Bay are available from $39 and passengers from Melbourne can fly to the Sunshine Coast from $99.
The Darwin to Melbourne and Darwin to Sydney ticket discounts fall outside peak visitor season and after the conclusion of the Territory’s school holidays.
Major tourism events like Sydney’s annual New Year’s Eve fireworks or Melbourne’s Australian Open tennis fall outside Jetstar’s discount ticket window.
Jetstar’s 48-hour sale ends at 11.59pm on December 27, unless tickets sell out sooner.
Qantas last week threw a lifeline to Alice Springs residents, announcing a 20 per cent discount on all economy seats on flights to Adelaide.
This should limit the cost of Alice Springs-Adelaide tickets to about $400 each way.
The move came after discussions between Tourism Central Australia chief executive Danial Rochford and Qantas in recent months.
The Territory Government recently rejected calls by Tourism Central Australia for the introduction of a fare price cap on flights between Alice Springs and Darwin.
