Leaders of the next generation of the Territory workforce have been recognised for their achievements.
The 67th NT Training Awards was held on Saturday night to celebrate the NT’s VET sector.
Winners of the awards came from a range of backgrounds, with trainees from Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, and Batchelor and across the beauty, construction and fitness industries.
Business, Jobs and Training Minister Paul Kirby said there was plenty of talent to choose from in this year’s awards.
“There were more than 4000 trainees or apprentices in training in the Territory as of June 2022, a 5.4 per cent increase compared to the same time last year, proving the sector’s strength, resilience and popularity,” he said.
There were 70 people and 13 businesses nominated across 12 categories.
Mr Kirby shared his congratulations to the winners of the awards and noted the importance of training in securing workers amid a national workforce shortage.
“Training is a critical element in meeting the Territory’s present and future workforce needs.
“These awards acknowledge the work that local trainees, apprentices, employers and training providers contribute to Territory economy.”
