Advertisements have appeared for two senior jobs at what will be Darwin CBD’s largest single hospitality and entertainment venue.

The new premises at 72-76 Mitchell Street incorporates the old Darwin Cinema and Ducks Nuts buildings.

Expected to open in time for the Dry, operators Top End Hospitality Group want to recruit a head chef and marketing manager ahead of further recruitment closer to the official opening.

The advertisements give a glimpse inside the proposed venue, which is under construction on Mitchell Street.

“Leap into the heart of Darwin’s hospitality and entertainment scene as a member of our prestigious Hospitality Group, as we gear up to launch Darwin’s newest crown jewel of entertainment at the iconic 72-76 Mitchell Street,” the marketing manager advertisement read.

“This will be Darwin CBD’s largest single hospitality and entertainment venue, boasting a dazzling ensemble of bars, function spaces and leisure opportunities.”

The head chef ad also gave an insight into the new venue’s scope.

“Are you a culinary maestro with a taste for innovation and an ambition to make an impact in a new setting,” it said.

“Dive into an exhilarating opportunity with our renowned Hospitality Group as we set the stage for the launch of Darwin’s most ambitious entertainment and dining venture yet.

“With a newly designed and renovated foundation, anchored in modern Australian cuisine, an exceptional array of beverages, and diverse entertainment offerings, it’s not just a new venue, it will be a new destination.”

The head chef will be required to create “premium pub fare that sets a new standard for pub dining in Darwin” as well as “plan and oversee the culinary aspects of key venue events, ensuring memorable dining experiences for our guests.”

TEHG is a pairing of Micnan – the construction company operated by Lachlan Michell – and Coleman Management Group - Justin Coleman along with long-time operations head Steve Dugan.

The hospitality arm also operates Landmark@Gateway, Breezes Bar and Bistro and is a shareholder and operator of the Great Northern Hotel in Byron Bay.

Past venues built and operated are Shenannigans Darwin, Cairns and Adelaide, The Bell Bar and Bistro, Globies Bar, The Deck Bar, Madison on Mitchell and Pat Malones in Mooloolaba.

Ducks Nuts opened in 2008 and eventually closed its doors during the 2017 economic downturn.

The cinema lasted another 13 months before screening its last film in October 2018.

Applications for both ads need to be submitted to office@tehg.com.au by April 5.
