ONE of the country’s most luxurious eco-retreats in scenic East Arnhem is up for sale.
Banubanu Beach Retreat on Bremer Island is open for expressions of interests with HTL Property, which sold the iconic Beachfront Hotel.
The retreat was established in 2005 and offers clients a “luxury glamping experience”, with six high-end rooms, a bar and restaurant.
The island also has it’s own airstrip and boat ramp.
Current owners Helen Martin and Trevor Hosie said the retreat was built in partnership with the Yolngu people and runs 100 per cent on solar power.
“We were so lucky to receive support from the Traditional Owners to operate Banbanu Beach Retreat and ultimately welcome the world to this idyllic haven” they said.
“Whilst a permit fee from all guests visiting the retreat is paid to the traditional owners, this slice of paradise deserves every dollar, you just don’t find these kinds of properties anywhere in the world,” said Ms Martin.
HTL Property directors Nic Simarro, Brent McCarthy and Glenn Price said there was significant international interest in properties such as the Banubanu Beach Retreat.
“Since the (Covid-19) related impact upon international travel, we are seeing vastly increased demand from investors seeking this style of assets,” Mr Simarro said.
“We have one of the greatest countries in the world and the fact we can escape to these isolated and truly unique locations, regularly renders us the envy of the globe.”
Mr Price said: “As there exists no planning authority overlay for the island, the incoming owner enjoys the ability to work with current stakeholders and the custodians of the land, to further develop the island’s hospitality accommodation and recreational offering without the requirement of formal approvals.”
The property is for sale by an international expressions of interest campaign, closing on July 2021 if it’s not sold prior to the date.
