A popular Gateway Shopping Centre indoor kids’ play space that folded earlier this year amid an estimated $1.5m debt and possible corporate breaches is expected to reopen in the coming months under new ownership.

Adventure Land Palmerston Pty Ltd, which operated the business of the same name at Gateway Shopping Centre, closed for good in August, having delighted local families since its opening in 2019.

Its tenancy at the shopping centre has remained shuttered since.

But it can now be revealed a new operator – a “fabulous young Darwin couple with kids [who are] full of enthusiasm,” according to a source – is expected to reopen the business in the new year under a new name.

The play space will also undergo a “complete refit” in preparation for the launch.

Signs have been erected outside the former Adventure Land Palmerston, advising shoppers of the rebrand and plans to reopen the space.

More is expected to be known next month.

The previous company, owned and operated by director Amanda Louise Heath, who has since relocated to Kingsholme in Queensland alongside her young family, collapsed amid an estimated debt in excess of $1.5m.

Company liquidator Chris Cook of Worrells said his investigations revealed a number of possible breaches of the Corporations Act 2001.

He said his analysis of the company’s internal financial accounts indicated the company “has been insolvent from at least June 30, 2022,” and he also suspected there had been voidable transactions (potentially able to be recouped) that were either uncommercial, unreasonable, or unfair.

Among those included: $5000 sent to company director Ms Heath two days prior to Mr Cook’s appointment; payments totalling $23,000, sent in $1000 increments, to a bank account; several withdrawals under $5000 which appeared to be personal in nature; and $79,789 sent to Volkswagen Finance, payments that “appear to be outside the ordinary course of business”.
