Darwin desk jockeys were given a taste of the wild when a 650kg saltwater crocodile was spotted strapped to the back of a trailer.
On Friday morning, Outback Wrangler reality television star Matt Wright was involved in the transportation of a large saltwater crocodile into the heart of Darwin CBD.
It’s understood the big reptile caused a bit of a stir on Shadford Ln, behind Crocosaurus Cove, as city workers were confronted by the sight of the giant prehistoric beast.
A spokesman for Mr Wright said the male saltwater crocodile, named Daly, had spent the past 12 months at the Top End Safari Camp.
“The croc was being taken back to Crocosaurus Cove, it had been at Top End Safari Camp for about 12 months while they fixed the enclosure,” he said.
At least seven people were involved in hauling Daly into his new home, following his 119km journey from the Bynoe crocodile camp.
Weighing in at 650kg, Daly is still one of smallest saltwater crocodiles at Crocosaurus Cove.
According to their website, Daly is small fry compared to Wendell — a 800kg mass of “aggressive” scaly rage.
