NT Airports says it is expecting to see an increase in visitor numbers in the December-January festive season and holiday period – particularly as Territory borders open to Melbourne.

“Our airports are primed, safe and ready to safely welcome travellers over the festive period,” a spokesman for NT Airports said.

“Christmas is traditionally a busy time for each of our airports and this year we are expecting to see an increase in visitor numbers, particularly as Territory borders open to Melbourne.

“Many of our airport retail outlets, businesses and cafes are now open and ready for the visitors, providing a much-needed boost to the Territory economy.”

The NT Airports spokesman said it expected from Monday there would be no active COVID-19 hot spots and, should that continue, visitors arriving from interstate would follow a streamlined arrivals process.
