Northern Territory’s best hairdresser voted on by public

You have voted and now it has been decided … the Territory’s best hairdresser has been revealed.

THE Territory’s best hairdresser is the passionate Randy Florendo.

Randy been cutting hair for 27 years, learning his craft in his home country of the Philippines before moving to Australia 14 years ago.

He was nominated by many of his clients when the NT News first put out the call on Facebook to find the Territory’s best.

When he arrived in Darwin, he took on a job at Helmet Hair Studio through a sponsorship scheme and has styled the heads of Darwinites for nine years.

He then took the opportunity to open up his own salon about five years ago, and has not looked back.

Coming in second in our poll was Hair Oracle of Darwin CBD with 72 votes (or 15.19 per cent of the total). Third was Helmet Hair Studios in Darwin CBD with 32 votes or 6.75 per cent of the total), with fourth Milan Hair in the Darwin CBD with 29 votes (or 6.12 per cent of the total), in front of the fifth placed I Am Hair Wellness of Durack with 28 votes (or 5.91 per cent of the total).

Randy said he was over the moon on taking out the title.

“It’s really exciting, it’s cool, especially to feel appreciated by people and clients,” he said.

He thanked Helmet Hair Studio, his clients and his husband Tommy Husband (yes that is really his name) for their support over the years.

He said hair dressing had been a life long passion for him.

“I think I most enjoy the transformation from simple hair styles to changing the look of someone, and also the effect afterwards when someone really appreciates your job and gives you feedback,” he said.

“I put my heart into it every time I do hair, I want to transform a person.”

Client Suzanne Hunt has been seeing Mr Florendo for years and backed the public vote of him being crowed the Territory’s best hair dresser.

“My hair was in a terrible state before I phoned Randy and now look at it, it’s awesome,” she said.
