SEVERAL design concepts to rejuvenate the Westlane Arcade will be presented at a Darwin Council meeting tonight with aldermen considering investing up to $570,000 on upgrades.
It comes after Alderman Paul Arnold requested the arcade be looked at during the July 28 meeting, as part of their 2020/2021 asset activation strategy.

“As a centrally located and prominent asset for council, I think Westlane Arcade and the shop tenancies in that facility are tired, under-utilised and in need of review to ensure suitable tenants are attracted to optimally activate that facility,” he said.
The tropical-style refurbishments are one of five options to help activate the arcade, along with a review of rental rates, marketing, upgrading access and creating a mix of tenants.

The plans for the arcade, which was last upgraded in 2003, will be referred to the 2021/22 budget.
