FEW foods can really hit the spot like a toasted sandwich, and a new business in the Darwin CBD is out to prove it.
Postie, a takeaway-only cafe running out of an old barber shop on Bennett Street, opened just over two weeks ago but is already attracting a following with its specialty coffee and fresh toasties made on site from high-quality ingredients.
Co-owners Kurt Bartlett and Rachel Craggs said the business aimed to be a fast but healthy and tasty food alternative for on-the-go city workers.
“Toasties are like Australian soul food and a toasted sandwich and coffee have always been my favourite combination,” Mr Bartlett said.

“It’s not a new idea because it’s basically modelled on other hole-in-the-walls that are in every other city (in Australia), but Darwin didn’t have any so we thought it was a good opportunity to start one.”
Postie is open from 7am to 3pm from Monday to Friday.
