THE $200,000 of Darwin council’s cash given to shoppers to stimulate spending is likely to run out early today.
More than $182,000 of the MyDarwin scheme funding had been spent by 5pm on Saturday.
The pool – the second with a 48-hour turnaround time for vouchers – was opened at 12.01am on Wednesday and aimed to allow more people the opportunity to grab the cash.
It was also hoped it would mean more businesses would benefit.

Under the program, shoppers can spend as little as $10 to get $2.50 back.
If their bill totals $80 or more, $20 is available.
The program is in its sixth round, with the fifth round exhausted after 4½ days.
The fifth and sixth rounds were also the first money pools funded directly from Darwin council’s carparking revenue.

The MyDarwin scheme has been copied in other council jurisdictions, including Palmerston, Litchfield and Alice Springs.
