NEARLY two-thirds of the Territory’s highly popular tourism voucher scheme has been spent, as people rushed to make bookings days before the expiry date.
It also means 3000 people in the 25,000-person long queue for a $200 tourism voucher have now received one, after money unspent or unredeemed was returned to the pool.
The NT government has confirmed $3.09m of the second round of the NT government’s tourism voucher scheme, worth $5m, has been redeemed.
Half of those sales were from vouchers redeemed in the last seven days before the expiration date.
Latest figures show 7492 vouchers have been redeemed.

An initial burst of 12,000 vouchers was released in three batches, with vouchers due to expire between November 18 and Monday.
A batch of 3000 vouchers were released on Friday, with more to come following the final count of unredeemed vouchers.
The top use of the vouchers has been on accommodation followed by recreation activities such as fishing, boat hire and scenic flights, and tours.
“Territorians have been redeeming vouchers in droves this week and it was fantastic to get another 3000 vouchers out the door so quickly last Friday and into the hands of those on the waitlist,” Tourism Minister Natasha Fyles said.

The third and final round of the tourism voucher program, worth $5m, will be launched in February 2021.
