Experts' property outlook for 2021

A LUXURIOUS penthouse apartment for sale in the Darwin CBD is attracting sky-high levels of interstate and international buyer interest, with more than 150 inquiries having been made for the property so far.

Expressions of interest for 2803/43E Knuckey St, Darwin City – one of only two penthouse apartments in the Mantra Pandanas building – have been open for several weeks, and Real Estate Central has been running a massive national and international advertising campaign in a bid to find the top buyer.

Real Estate Central sales professional Andrew Harding said the agency’s efforts were paying off, with the apartment receiving an overwhelming level of interest even compared to other homes at the high-end of the Darwin market.

“We’ve done an extensive international and national marketing campaign on this penthouse …. across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UAE (United Arab Emirates), and we’ve had over 150 inbound inquiries,” he said.

“I don’t think that’s happened before in Darwin, or definitely not in my real estate career or anytime recently.

“The level of inquires we’re getting at the moment would be four to five times as much as anything we would expect on a $1.5 million Fannie Bay property.”

He said most of the interest was coming from interstate investors.

“There are definitely a lot of eyes on property in Darwin at the moment, and there are a lot of interstate people looking in Darwin,” he said.

“There have been inbound inquiries from the UAE, but predominantly the interest is coming from interstate.

“Perth and Sydney have been our strongest interest points so far.

“The interested parties we are speaking with own businesses in Darwin and travel frequently to Darwin, and are looking to have a base here that they can utilise for a few weeks or months a year, and use as a short stay platform when they’re not here.”

“That would give them the flexibility to use and enjoy the apartment, and have it make some extra income when they’re not here.”

2803/43E Knuckey St is located on the 28th level of the Mantras Pandanas building and features high ceilings, glass frontage across the entire open plan living area and views over the city and Darwin Harbour, to name just a few features.
