The DMBG was formed by 14 major businesses in January 2017. It was established for major business to have a strong co-ordinated voice to inform and influence the government and to share information among member businesses.
Combined, the DMBG had invested $2bn in the Darwin economy in the five years to 2017. It has a combined employment of more than 4000.
Mr Kew said the DMBG had sought to play an important role in engaging with the City of Darwin and the NT and federal governments about the policies, projects and economic frameworks that will encourage major businesses in the NT to continue to invest in projects and initiatives that will generate long-term jobs, growth and help make Darwin and the NT a more desirable and liveable place for the future.
“During this time, the DMBG has contributed to the NT’s Economic Development Framework, it has lodged submissions in response to and in support of major projects and economic reforms in the NT and has sought to join together with the NT Government to promote the Territory at the national and international level,” Mr Kew said.
