‘It’s a great reward for my team as well’: Stone House owner on wine win

The Northern Territory’s best wine list has been named in the Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards.

DARWIN’S first true wine bar has received a national award for its unique range of wines.

Stone House Wine Bar and Kitchen was awarded Best Wine List NT in Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards for 2019.

It's the third year in a row the wine bar has won the accolade.

Owner Rebecca Bullen said her aim with each wine was to awaken memories and experiences.

“Many things evoke memories and wine is one of those big drivers for me,” she said.

“I’m in love with flavours, the flavours of wine take me down memory lane when I taste them.

“To make it on a wine list in any place, it has to have a reason for being there. The reason I have it is I like the wine, I like the people and I like the story.

“I have a love of customers and I love finding them wines that bring them on a journey.”

Stone House opened in 2016 and has one of the largest wine collections in Darwin, with more than 350 types.

Ms Bullen said by entering the awards, she’s been able to expand her range to include exclusive international wines.

Stone House is the only Australian distributer of America’s fifth largest wine company, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates.

“It means we can offer wine no one down south has,” she said. “It’s exciting, it’s a great reward for my team as well, it’s a collaborative show.”
