Hearing over Dan Murphy’s court case ongoing

STAKEHOLDERS in the Dan Murphy’s saga will have to wait a little longer after no decision was made following a day of hearings.
At a divisive hearing at the NT Civil and Administrative Tribunal, questions were raised over whether the licence could legally be transferred to a store which didn’t physically exist yet, as well as whether a small BWS store could have its licence transferred to a store some nine-times larger.
NTCAT heard submissions from Dan Murphy’s and the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education on Thursday.
NCAT chairman Richard Bruxner indicated he wanted to make a decision promptly on whether Dan Murphy’s could legally appeal the Liquor Commission’s decision, hopefully ahead of Christmas.
Pending the outcome of the decision, Dan Murphy’s will either take the matter to the Supreme Court or will have their initial appeal to the Liquor Commission’s decision heard.
