THE Video Shop Durack, the last rental DVD store in the NT, will close its doors on July 1.
People are now unable to hire movies but the store contents are for sale.
The shop, which hired out a wide range of DVDs, announced the closure on social media on Saturday.
The business also sold confectionary from Candy Landz, which will continue to operate at the Gateway Shopping Centre.
The shop cited COVID-19 delaying box office releases as the reason for the closure.

“Unfortunately we have decided to close our store,” the statement read.
“As of next month there will be no box office movies available to us due to cinemas and production being put on hold.
“We have been told we may not receive a box office new release movie until the end of the year.
“Will we re-open again? At this stage no as we just don’t know, if we do we will be moving to a smaller store so we need to downsize anyway.”

he owners of the DVD shop thanked customers for their loyal support over the years.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us but we just won’t be able to stand a second hit and we are sorry it’s come to this,” the Facebook post read.
