THE pride and joy of Darwin laksa queen Amye Un, her Stuart Park Laksa House, is up for sale after the burdens of the business became too expensive to manage.
Ms Un told the NT News that though customers had already begged her not to close her doors, she didn’t feel that she had much of a choice.
“The situation is business has collapsed. For 17 years I have run the business and business has collapsed,” she said.
“The economy in the Northern Territory needs to be improved.
“This is a very iconic laksa house.”

Ms Un is holding onto hope the government may be able to help out.
“I have to pay bills every week, not enough money for shopping but I have to keep my customers too,” she said.
“I will see if government can see and listen and give me help, maybe I can keep going.”
“It’s very sad … as I speak to you I’m talking through tears.”
