DARWIN Council could take management of the Manunda Place NT Government building’s carpark, with negotiations under way regarding the complex’s 324 parking bays.
It would add to the 1758 off-street bays the council already controlled at West Lane, McLachlan, McMinn and Mitchell/Daly streets, Nichols Place, Chinatown, Darwin Oval, Woods St and the Civic Centre.

Economic Development and Tourism manager Josh Sattler said no deal had been made with the developers.
“Council officers are in negotiations with Sandran Property Group in relation to the management of the multistorey Litchfield car park, which is expected to become operational from September 2020,” he said.

“It is difficult to assess if this will impact on council’s existing carparking revenue, but with an additional 500 workers estimated to visit the city daily as a result of the Manuda Place development there may be an increase in demand for parking.”
