Darwin building system firm becomes national distributor

A JOURNEY to create a specialist building fabrication system has led a Darwin company to become a national distributor

SAN INDUSTRIESwill be the Australian distributor for the China-based Hangzhou Machinery Factory.

San Industries owner George Milatos said the distributorship came about through his own search for specialist machines to create his Titan Building system.

“We needed three machines to do what we had engineered,” he said. “I searched all around and eventually came across this company who then designed and built what I needed.

“We had to prove the concept with the engin­eers first but once that was done we then had to manufacture.

“When you are working with sheets you need different machines for different profiles. There is the traditional profile of corrugated iron but if you want to try a different profile then you need to create a new machine. This company can customise a machine to meet your needs.”

The distributorship was signed late last month. San Industries and Titan Building are already working on international contracts. The company has been working with its Asian partners to build classrooms in Myanmar.

“At this point we are about 90 per cent complete on the classrooms,” he said. “We donated the materials in order to help them, the community out. Things have started to settle down following the election in Myanmar.”

Discussions and presentations are also being held in the Philippines and Fiji to manufacture products to handle the conditions.
