Aussies can travel to Bali for as little as $200 ahead of Christmas

Thousands of Aussies will be able to enjoy a Bali holiday for as little as $200 with a highly anticipated direct flight service launching this month.

Tourists entering Bali to be given ‘dos and don’ts’ card to stop bad behaviour

A cheeky getaway for thousands of Australians to Bali will become reality with the highly anticipated direct flight service launching this month.

Under ambitious plans by carrier Batik Air, the Malaysian-based airline will have two flights a week for the first month between Adelaide and Bali starting from November 6.

The flight will operate on Mondays and Fridays, with the budget airline reviewing their services on December 13. Tickets start from around $200 return.

“This initiative will bring great benefits to business people and tourists, facilitating access between the two destinations which are known to be busy with travel enthusiasts,” Batik Air’s spokesman Danang Mandala Prihantoro told local Bali media.

Mr Prihantoro said that the flight route will not only help boost tourism in Bali, but also create a gateway for tourists between South Australia and Bali. Tourists from Australia remain the most frequent international tourists in Bali.

“They (Australians) are wide open to enjoying Balinese culture, beautiful beaches, and other tourist attractions before continuing their journey to other destinations,” he said.

The island paradise is bracing for an influx of Australians over the festive season, despite the cost of living pressures.

Across Qantas, Virgin, Batik Air and Jetstar, a search on November 2 shows prices start from as little as $200 return for travellers looking to head to Bali at the start of December.

However, prices increase significantly in the lead up to Christmas, with some flights costing almost $2000.

According to Finder, 60 per cent of Aussies are planning a holiday within the next year, with an average of $2153 spent on flights.

Finder’s travel expert Angus Kidman said with Christmas fast-approaching, many Aussies will be trying to book in their last-minute travel plans.

“Bali has always had a reputation for super-cheap flights, but finding those over the holiday season can be tricky at the last minute,” Mr Kidman said.

“Be flexible with your departure city. You might find a cheaper fare if you’re willing to fly through somewhere else first.

“Melbourne and Sydney have the most airlines offering direct Bali services, but Jetstar and Batik Air both offer services from Perth, while Jetstar also flies from Cairns and Batik is starting flights from Adelaide.”

Earlier this year, Balinese officials enforced a list of 12 “dos” and eight ”don’ts” for international tourists to ensure travellers adhere to local rules.

The “do’s” include foreigners having to dress modestly, follow road rules and urges travellers not to use cryptocurrencies for transactions while in Indonesia.

Mr Kidman said travellers should try and tick the “flexible dates” option when searching for flights.

“This way you can see if flying a day before or after could be cheaper than flying on your nominated date. Flights around the weekend are always more expensive,” he said.

“Bali loves tourists, but remember there’s been a crackdown on unruly behaviour, so don’t go berserk with the Bintangs.”
