UPDATE: Commonwealth Bank said its services have now been restored.
EARLIER: Commonwealth Bank is facing a barrage of angry customers this morning as an outage across its network is leaving people in the lurch.
Customers on Twitter have said they’ve lost access to some of their accounts such as credit accounts and mortgages. Other have made references to EFTPOS and ‘Tap and Go’ not working.

The network outage has caused issues across Australia with customers also unable to withdraw cash from ATMs
Gold Coaster Joe Welch was among the scores affected.
He attempted to use two different Commonwealth Bank ATMs at least four times from 7am this morning and was told he did not have enough money in his account, despite knowing he had plenty to cover the $20 he was trying to withdraw.
When he tried to call customer service he received an automated message saying Commonwealth Bank was experiencing a high volume of calls and to call back later.
Alllll of @CommBank services are down. Apparently you have to go to branch and that's it.

Commonwealth Bank issued a statement: “We are currently experiencing a technical issue with our systems. We apologise for the inconvenience to customers. The cause of the problem is under urgent investigation and we are working to have full services restored as a matter of priority.”
The latest incident comes on the tails of a major network failure in April that left customers unable to access a range of CBA services including ATMs, EFTPOS, Commsec, phone services and online banking. At the time, Commonwealth Bank was heavily criticised for failing to keep customers updated.
The bank has been responding to customers on social media promptly this morning.
@JadonMintern Hey Jadon, we're experiencing some tech issues with our systems. We are investigating & appreciate your patience. Thanks!
