CHANNEL 9 Darwin is leaving its Garden Hills headquarters to set up a new HQ in the Darwin CBD.
Station general manager Andy Bruyn announced the shift on Monday, at the same time revealing he was stepping down from his position after 28 years at the helm of the station.
Mr Bruyn has been with Nine for 37 years and said the decision to leave was his.
“It is important to make it clear that this was my decision … Channel 9 has been a glorious part of my life,” Mr Bruyn said.
“Darwin is home and I will be staying here, but after 28 years as the GM the timing was right to step away.”
Mr Bruyn’s responsibilities will be taken by Steve Shervill.
Mr Shervill will also continue to lead the station’s sales team.
Mr Bruyn said Channel 9’s new CBD headquarters would be on Mitchell St at the corner of McLachlan Street.
“Our relocation to the city is expected to be completed in July/August this year,” he said.
