CATERING queen Karen Sheldon has been appointed the new president of the Chamber of Commerce NT for the next year.

CATERING queen Karen Sheldon has been appointed the new president of the Chamber of Commerce NT for the next year.

Ms Sheldon is a renowned and highly respected entrepreneur around the Territory and has devoted much of her life to helping others.

Among her many accolades, she has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia, and the winner of the 2016 NT Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Award in the Entrepreneur Category.

She takes up the position vacated by outgoing President Greg Ireland, whose change in circumstances prevent him from continuing in the role.

Brett Hagan has been appointed as senior Vice President and Alex Brown as Vice President Finance.

The Chamber of Commerce NT represents over 1200 businesses across the Northern Territory.

Outgoing chamber CEO Greg Bicknell said: “We welcome the leadership that Karen will bring to the Chamber and continues our tradition of regional female business representatives in key roles.”

“The Chambers 2020 Business Outlook survey is already indicating that business conditions will remain challenging and Karen will continue to work with both government and opposition in the lead up to the 2020 election, to achieve policy positions that will support business growth”, he added.

The search continues for a new chief executive after Mr Bicknell recently resigned after seven years at the helm.
