BP AUSTRALIA has won the right to build and operate a new truck stop within the $25 million Truck Central precinct at the corner of Wishart Rd and Tiger Brennan Dr.
The Land Development Corporation and Ostojic Group, who are delivering Darwin’s Truck Central development, finalised a land sale contract with BP for a Truck Stop Facility near the entrance to the estate.
The new BP Truck Stop will offer access for multiple vehicles, from small vehicles to large triple road trains; high-flow diesel pumps; meals; a truck drivers’ lounge; and shower facilities.
Truck Central is the first stage of the 70 hectare industrial precinct situated at the cross roads of the region’s major heavy vehicle transport routes being Tiger Brennan Dr, Berrimah Rd and Wishart Rd.
The truck stop complements the 3.2 hectare Road Train Assembly Area and Heavy Vehicle Inspection Facility which are being jointly funded by the Australian Government, Northern Territory Government and LDC.
In addition, there are 22 industrial lots available for sale and development which are expected to attract transport and general industry businesses including regional distribution centres, truck sales, transport depots and will be supported by a range of vehicle maintenance activities such as inspection centres, tyre, mechanical and body repairs.
The LDC’s chief executive Tony Stubbin said the estate is set to become the key transport hub for the Top End.
“Both Ostojic and LDC are receiving interest from businesses keen to establish a presence at Truck Central,” he said.

Construction of the new Truck Stop is expected to start this month and will create about 100 jobs during this phase.
