AIRNORTH will operate new air services between Darwin and Groote Eyelandt on its new E170 jet fleet.

The company said the service was well received on its inaugural flight to Groote Eylandt on January 20, securing its scheduled departures out of Darwin every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with same day return.

The upgrade to the E170 fleet, which seats 76 passengers, added a capacity of 30 per cent, totalling to 930 seats across 22 flights each week.

Airnorth chief executive Daniel Bowden was thrilled to offer the flights.

“Our customers have been asking for this for some time and we think they’ll enjoy the option of flying on the jet as the benefits of our service along with the shorter travel time and greater baggage allowance is second to none,” he said.
