THE woman who became the face of the Westminster terror attack has been photographed in hospital as she continues to heal.

THE woman who became the face of the Westminster terror attack has been photographed by her family in hospital as she continues to heal, while mourning the death of her husband.

American tourist Melissa Cochran, 46, was seriously injured and her husband Kurt Cochran, 54, was killed when they were run down by Khalid Masood on Westminster Bridge on March 22.

A photograph of a terrified Mrs Cochran, clinging desperately to a passer-by as blood ran from her head, was one of the most powerful images from the attack, which claimed the lives of four people as well as Masood, who was shot dead by police.

Earlier today her family posted photographs of her on a crowd-funding website, showing her gradual return to health.

Her brother Clint posted the photos of a bruised Mrs Cochran, smiling tentatively for the camera, under the caption “Getting stronger every day!’’

In one picture she is wearing a hospital gown, balancing carefully on crutches, her left leg encased in a cage after surgery to repair broken bones.

In a second photograph she is taking a selfie on a camera phone with family and friends gathered around her bed.

The Cochrans, who ran a small music studio in West Bountiful, Utah, were in London celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and were walking across Westminster Bridge when they were struck by Masood.

They were also visiting her parents who are missionaries at a Mormon church in London.

A large family group is supporting Mrs Cochran in London, and members of the group visited Westminster Bridge this week to pay respects.

They also held a press conference at New Scotland Yard police headquarters, expressing no ill will towards Masood, 52, the Muslim convert and extremist who also injured 50 people in his 82-second attack.

Earlier this week, Clint Payne said his sister was “so grateful for the outpouring of love and generosity.’’

“So many people have been so kind, and we are deeply touched by their goodness and generosity,’’ he said in a video message.

“The most difficult part of all of this is that Kurt is no longer with us, and we miss him terribly. He was an amazing individual who loved everyone and tried to make the world a better place.’’
