A TEENAGE internet troll has appeared in court charged with assaulting a reporter from Channel Seven's Today Tonight.

A TEENAGE internet troll has appeared in court charged with assaulting a Today Tonight television journalist.

The 18-year-old, who was granted interim name suppression, appeared before a registrar at Rotorua District court.

He did not enter a plea to the charge and was remanded to reappear on March 21.

The charges relate to an alleged incident involving Channel 7 reporter David Eccleston last week.

Today Tonight was filming a prearranged interview with the accused, concerning his prolific internet trolling when he allegedly assaulted Eccleston.
