REVEALING security vision chronicles the movements of Canadian gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau charging through Ottawa parliament before opening fire.

Police released the CCTV footage in a press conference this morning showing the gunman pull up to Parliament Hill in a hijacked official government car moments after gunning down a soldier at the National War Memorial.

Armed with a rifle, the man can be seen charging towards the parliament building as he runs from the car.

People can be seen fleeing for their lives as the suspect runs toward the main parliamentary building.

The man attempts to hijack a second car — a minister’s vehicle occupied by a driver — but heads towards the building on foot with police in pursuit after the driver leaves the car.

Gunfire is exchanged and as the man and a team of police and security guards follow him into parliament, where he was gunned down by Parliament sergeant-at-arms, Kevin Vickers.

Since the shooting it has been revealed Zehaf-Bibeau, a 32-year-old Canadian, had been staying in a homeless shelter and was a recent convert to Islam, speaking recently of attempts to travel to the Middle East.

His act has been classified a terrorist attack.
