George Floyd riots: "America failed to listen to its own people"

The man whose image went viral after he faced off against police with his two-year-old sitting on this shoulders, says one officer threatened to spray tear gas at his child.

The image of Dontae Parks, 29, and his son taken during a protest in Long Beach, California, has been shared around the world.

Parks told The Sun one police officer had threatened to spray his son with tear gas.

"One cop threatened to spray my son with tear gas," he said.

"I said 'Okay, I would like to see you do that'. I was shocked."

Video shows police firing bullets around Parks and his son, and in other footage, fellow protesters can be heard begging police not to gas the child.

"What's the matter with you? You are a monster! You are really going to gas this child? What about your child?" one protester can be heard saying.

Meanwhile the details of George Floyd's full 20-page autopsy report have been revealed.

The medical examiner's office in Minnesota released the report, which said his official cause of death is listed as "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restrain, and neck compression", which in plain english of course means the knee pressing into his neck resulted in cardiac arrest.

He suffered from three underlying conditions – severe "arteriosclerotic heart disease", "hypertensive heart disease" and an "incidental" tumour on the left side of his pelvis.

Mr Floyd had also contracted the coronavirus at some point.
