President Trump's worrying Zelensky claims

Donald Trump has ordered a pause to all military aid to Ukraine, including weapons already in transit, three days after his fiery clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The US President and Vice President accused Mr Zelensky of being insufficiently “grateful” for America’s support in the Russia-Ukraine war and of “gambling with World War III” in the trainwreck meeting in the Oval Office on Friday, US time.

Hours later, on Tuesday local time, Mr Zelensky sent out a grovelling social media post praising Donald Trump’s ‘strength’ and expressing “regret” for the awful White House meeting.

“It’s time to make things right,” he said.

Stock markets around the world are as 25 per cent tariffs on Canada and Mexico took effect. He also doubled tariffs on China.

On Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said there was “no justifications” for the “dumb” tariffs — as he announced retaliatory tariffs.

President Trump said if Canada levelled tariffs, the US may itself add even more tariffs to Canada.

On Tuesday night, US time (Wednesday in Australia) Mr Trump will give his first speech of his second term to Congress. He has flagged that it “will be big”.
