US politics live: Aussie speaks out after being deported from the US, as the fallout from Donald Trump’s military parade grows

An Australian caught up in the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigrants has spoken out about the reasons behind his ordeal.

Welcome to our live coverage of events in the United States.

Witnesses have shared footage of the horrifying moment shots were fired as 10,000 marched during an anti-Trump “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Three people have been taken into custody after the shooting left a man with a “critical” wound.

In a video shared by onlooker Kris Pendleton with The Salt Lake Tribune, the crowd can be seen reacting with fear as gunshots ring out.

Screams can be heard as protesters – some holding large signs – run for cover.

The countrywide protests coincided, by design, with President Donald Trump’s military parade in Washington D.C., which marked both his own birthday and that of the US Army.
