US election campaign live: Polls open in the USA as cities brace for riots
The first results of the US election have just been announced as polls open for Americans to make their choice between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

The day of reckoning has finally arrived with polling stations beginning to open across the United States.
Store owners in Washington DC have already boarded up their shops in anticipation for riots.
Americans will today be choosing between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrat vice president Kamala Harris.
About 75 million people, almost half of the likely electorate, have already voted early.
The polls remain incredibly close, with conflicting data in most of the swing states.
The two candidates held the traditional late flurry of campaign events on Monday night, with Mr Trump vowing to lead the United States to “new heights of glory” at a closing rally in Grand Rapids, in the swing state of Michigan.
Meanwhile Harris said “momentum is on our side” as she finished on a high note in Philadelphia in the must-win state of Pennsylvania.
“This could be one of the closest races in history -- every single vote matters,” said Harris, who was joined by celebrities including Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey.
