US Election 2020: Chrissy Teigen trolls Republican Senator Marco Rubio for blue wave tweet
A Republican senator thought he was sending out a clever Trump tweet – until Chrissy Teigen pointed out his embarrassing oversight.
Republican Senator Marco Rubio knows a thing or two about winning an election in Florida – but he obviously isn’t across the term used to describe Democrats dominating the election.
Mr Rubio, a close ally of US President Donald Trump, tweeted earlier today about how confident he thought a Republican win was.
But Mr Rubio used a gif of a blue wave to really hammer home his point.

The term “blue wave” is used in US politics to describe a landslide win from the Democrats — the party led by Joe Biden and Mr Trump’s opponent.
The 2018 US mid-term election, which took place halfway through Mr Trump’s presidency, was widely characterised as a “blue wave” election after the Democratic Party made major political gains.
Obviously a “red wave” election is one where the Republican Party sees massive wins.
Mr Rubio’s tweet was widely panned across social media, with hundreds of people attempting to point out his glaring mistake.
One of those people was model and TV host Chrissy Teigen.
“Lmao you suck at this. There are SO many photos of a flood and you chose a blue wave, you f***in dork,” she wrote.
“Honestly what a true f***in idiot.”
And she wasn’t the only one.
ummmm ... a blue wave? is this a trick question

HOW ARE YOU THIS DUMB AS A UNITED STATES SENATOR? HOW?

Pretty bold of you to predict a blue wave

You realize you just posted a blue wave, right? I agree, thatâs exactly what is going to happen tonight.

The Republican senator’s tone-deaf wave tweet came after he tweeted “early turnout reports indicate #Florida is witnessing a GOP voter participation percentage of historic proportions”.
Donald Trump looks pretty certain to win Florida – particularly as a chunk of the remaining votes will come from the Republican-leaning Panhandle region.
This was obviously good news for the President. He pretty much needed to win Florida to have any chance in the broader election, and Decision Desk HQ called the state for him fairly early on.
The New York Times earlier gave Trump a 94 per cent chance of winning the state.

In the Democratic stronghold of Miami-Dade County, Trump has made big gains with 84 per cent of the vote counted.
Joe Biden is currently leading 54-45 there. Hillary Clinton won the county 54-34 in 2016. If Mr Biden doesn’t make up the difference, it’ll spell big trouble for him.
