US election 2020: 50 Cent says he ‘never liked’ Donald Trump retracting endorsement
The rapper threw his support behind the President – but now, he has back-pedalled spectacularly, claiming he “never liked” Donald Trump.
US rapper 50 Cent publicly endorsed US President Donald Trump just last week – but he has already appeared to backtrack.
Last Monday, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson took to Instagram to voice his support of Mr Trump in response to Democratic hopeful Joe Biden’s tax plan, which would jack up taxes for businesses – and individuals who rake in $US400,000-plus ($A561,951) per year.
As Jackson lives in New York City, Mr Biden’s plan means he could be subject to a 62 per cent tax rate.

“WHAT THE F---! (VOTE For TRUMP) IM OUT, F--- NEW YORK. The KNICKS never win anyway,” he posted.
“I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people, 62% are you out of ya f---ing mind.”
However, he took back his words yesterday, tweeting a video of a discussion between The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Jackson’s ex-girlfriend, comedian Chelsea Handler.
During their chat, the pair discussed the star’s support for the President, which Handler was critical of.

“He doesn’t want to pay 62 per cent of taxes because he doesn’t want to go from 50 Cent to 20 Cent,” Handler said in the clip.
“I had to remind him that he was a Black person, so he can’t vote for Donald Trump, and that he shouldn’t be influencing an entire swath of people who may listen to him because he’s worried about his own personal pocketbook.”
In a caption alongside the clip, the rapper appeared to distance himself from his previous comments, writing: “F**k Donald Trump, I never liked him. for all I know he had me set up and had my friend Angel Fernandez killed but that’s history. LOL.”

The surprise tweet prompted Handler to respond on Twitter, asking Jackson if his words meant “we can count on a vote for you for Joe Biden”, adding she was happy to discuss it with him “privately”.
The exchange divided opinions online, with some praising Jackson for changing his stance and Handler for convincing him – however, others questioned the ethics of publicly pressuring someone to vote a certain way.
Meanwhile, Jackson has previously spoken out against Mr Trump, tweeting in 2016 before the previous election: “Let us pray, lord please don’t let Trump into office. We will spin out of control.”
Jackson is just one of several rappers who have been slammed for apparently supporting the President.
Kanye West publicly endorsed Mr Trump in 2018, before ditching him when he announced his own presidential bid this year.
And Ice Cube also copped criticism after Mr Trump’s campaign adviser Katrina Pierson thanked him on social media for helping the government with its plan to help Black Americans.
