Trump suggests it was a mistake for Biden not to pardon himself

Mr Trump said he believes his predecessor was given “bad advice” in a scathing interview.

Donald Trump is reversing the ‘damage done’ by Biden administration

Donald Trump has suggested it was a mistake for Joe Biden not to pardon himself before leaving office.

The US president revealed his thoughts in a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity.

“This guy went around giving everybody pardons,” Mr Trump began.

“And you know, the funny thing, maybe the sad thing, is he didn’t give himself a pardon. And if you look at it, it all had to do with him.”

Mr Trump told Hannity that he was given the option to pardon himself in 2021 when he was departing the White House, but declined as he believed it would be an admission of guilt.

“They said, ‘Sir, would you like to pardon everybody, including yourself?’ I said, ‘I’m not going to pardon anybody. We didn’t do anything wrong,’” Mr Trump said.

When asked whether his predecessor should be investigated by the attorney general, Mr Trump appeared to evade it by discussing his own legal troubles.

“I went through four years of hell by this scum that we had to deal with. I went through four years of hell,” Mr Trump said. “I spent millions of dollars in legal fees, and I won. But I did it the hard way. It’s really hard to say that they shouldn’t have to go through it also. It is very hard to say it.”

But when asked if Congress should investigate Biden, he said he would leave it up to them.

“Joe Biden got very bad advice. Like he has in everything,” Mr Trump said. “Joe Biden has very bad advisers. Somebody advised Joe Biden to give pardons to everybody but him.”

As their time came to a close, the Fox News host told Mr Trump “let me get to the economy” and “I’m running out of time.”

“I don’t care,” the new president responded.

He then turned his ire back towards Mr Biden.

“This is more important because right now the economy is going to do great. I’m here, so the economy – but you have to understand, he had bad advisers on almost everything,” Mr Trump said of Mr Biden.

Hannity interjected saying he was being yelled at for time – but Mr Trump did not stop.
