QAnon supporter Marjorie Taylor Green wins a seat in US Congress

A supporter of conspiracy theory group QAnon has won a seat in the US Congress. Donald Trump has called her a “future star”.

A conservative businesswoman who supports QAnon conspiracy theories has claimed a seat in the US House of Representatives.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is a Republican candidate who ran unopposed for Georgia’s conservative 14th congressional district and describes herself as a staunch supporter of US President Donald Trump.

Mr Trump has previously tweeted his praise of the mother-of-three describing her as a “future Republican Star”.

Ms Greene is part of a growing list of candidates who have expressed support for QAnon, a conspiracy theory group that believes Mr Trump was put into the White House to fight a sex trafficking conspiracy run by a satanic cabal of elites engaging in sex trafficking, paedophilia and cannibalism.

“There’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take this global cabal of Satan-worshipping paedophiles out, and I think we have the president to do it,” Ms Green said in a video.

Ms Greene describes herself as “100% Pro-Life, 100% Pro-Second Amendment, 100% Pro-Trump, 100% for America”.

“I’m a conservative wife, mother, and businesswoman who 100 per cent stands with President Trump and against the left-wing socialists who want to wreck our country,” she says on her website.

Her Democratic opponent, Kevin Van Ausdal bowed out of the race last month citing “personal and family reasons”.

The 14th congressional district includes the outskirts of metro Atlanta and stretches out towards the largely rural northwest corner of the state.
