‘No evidence’ of voter fraud found, US election officials say

In another blow for Trump, US election officials have declared “no evidence” of voter fraud, naming this election the “most secure” in history.

Senior US election officials have struck a blow against Donald Trump’s claims of widespread voter fraud, revealing “no evidence” of compromised votes had been found.

Members of the Election Infrastructure Government co-ordinating Council (GCC) and the Election Infrastructure Sector co-ordinating Executive Committees have issued a joint statement refuting Mr Trump’s claims and even labelling this election the “most secure in American history”.

“The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history. Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double checking the entire election process prior to finalising the result,” the statement read,

“When states have close elections, many will recount ballots. All of the states with close results in the 2020 presidential race have paper records of each vote, allowing the ability to go back and count each ballot if necessary.

“This is an added benefit for security and resilience. This process allows for the identification and correction of any mistakes or errors. There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.”

The election officials noted there were a number of security measures in place to ensure a fair voting system, including pre-election testing, state certification of voting equipment and the US Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) certification of voting equipment.

“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too,” the statement read.

“When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”

This statement came hours after Mr Trump once again made a series of wild claims about vote tampering.

He wrote multiple tweets claiming 2.7 million Trump votes were deleted and 221,000 votes in Pennsylvania were switched from Trump to Biden.

Mr Trump’s campaign has filed more than a dozen lawsuits across multiple states to try and make his voting fraud claims stick.

So far none have been substantiated in court.

With most Republican politicians having yet to acknowledge Joe Biden’s win, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the chamber’s top Democrat, accused them Thursday of “denying reality” and “auditioning for profiles in cowardice.”

“We just had a divisive and hard-fought presidential election,” he said.

“But instead of working to pull the country back together so that we can fight our common enemy Covid-19, Republicans in Congress are spreading conspiracy theories, denying reality and poisoning the well of our democracy.”

Instead of following political norms and extolling America’s ongoing tradition of a peaceful transition of power, Republicans who have no evidence of significant electoral fraud are “denying reality” and “auditioning for profiles in cowardice,” Mr Schumer claimed.

“Congressional Republicans are deliberately casting doubt on our elections for no other reason but fear of Donald Trump.”
