Meltdown over Trump’s misheard answer during Presidential debate with Biden

Twitter went into meltdown over Donald Trump’s apparent response during the US Presidential debate. But there was one problem.

Twitter in meltdown over Trump comment: 'Good' or 'Go ahead'?

Twitter loves a controversial moment and users found it during today’s final US presidential debate.

Viewers sent the social media site into meltdown, flooding it with their own online debate on what President Donald Trump said in one particular exchange.

Mr Trump and his opponent Joe Biden were engaging in a heated segment on the issue of immigration, particularly around the since discontinued Trump administration policy of separating the children of undocumented immigrants from their parents at the border.

There was a long back-and-forth before Mr Trump pointed out that children were put in detention centres under the Obama administration as well.

Mr Trump then claimed the children currently in those detention centres were being treated well.

“Kristin (the debate moderator), I will say this. They went down, with reporters and everything, and they are so well taken care of,” he said.

He then told Mr Biden no one had to worry about it anymore, with the policy being terminated.

“You have 525 kids not knowing where in God’s name they’re going to be and lost their parents,” Mr Biden responded.

It was here that Mr Trump clearly said, “Go ahead” to the moderator but many people thought they heard, “Good”, prompting shocked reactions on Twitter and everyone weighing in on what they thought was said.

“Look at the close caption according to the close caption he said good? It is hard to tell however if he said good or go ahead,” one viewer said.

“I heard him say good instead of what the cc said which was go ahead...I’m pretty sure he said good because both my wife and I heard that,” another responded.

Someone else chimed in, “Me and my daughter heard the same. I re-winded and I could hear the case for go head but it’s a stretch.”

One woman said there was enough controversial Trump moments to talk about and that he clearly said “go ahead”.

“We don’t need to make (moments) up or spread disinformation,” she said.

The debate – the biggest remaining campaign event before election day in less than two weeks – was far more coherent than the pair’s previous meeting, but no less dramatic.

Both men had strong and weak moments, but Mr Trump felt he scored a particularly effective point the closing moments, as he pressured Mr Biden into saying he would “transition away” from the oil industry and towards renewable energy.

Earlier, the President got hammered on his response to the coronavirus pandemic and his immigration policies.
