Melania Trump slams ‘inappropriate and insensitive’ remark about her son Barron
Melania Trump has hit out over an “inappropriate and insensitive” remark that was made about her family.
Melania Trump has slammed “inappropriate and insensitive” remarks by a TV host after he implied that President Donald Trump is not the father of her son Barron.
On Father’s Day, which was on Sunday in the US, Food Network host and stand-up comedian John Henson tweeted to his 30,000 followers that “hopes Barron gets to spend today with whoever his dad is”.
Stephanie Grisham, the First Lady’s spokeswoman, fired back at the father-of-two on her behalf.
“Sadly we continue to see inappropriate and insensitive comments about the President’s son,” the former White House press secretary said in a statement.
The tweet also sparked a backlash online, with people saying it was “disgusting” and “pathetic” to bring a child into politics.
Why is Twitter allowing users to attack Barron Trump AGAIN? Iâm watching media figures and powerful adults harass a child. Pathetic!

hey look.. the left is attacking Barron Trump again. They can't hide their hate for long I guess. Disgusting. I have ALWAYS stopped anyone on my timeline or show from attacking Sasha or Malia.

Henson released a follow-up tweet clarifying that he was not joking about the younger Trump.
With respect, I think you dissecting it is the issue. The joke was aimed at Trump and the mere mention of Barronâs name doesnât mean itâs at his expense.

Although I respect your right to take issue with it.
This isn’t the first time the usually-reserved First Lady has spoken out in public to defend her son.
Last year in December, she took to Twitter to slam Stanford Law professor Pamela Karlan, who referenced the 14-year-old in House impeachment hearings.
“The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the President can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron,” Ms Karlan said before the House Judiciary Committee.
Ms Trump fired back, tweeting: “A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”
Ms Karlan subsequently apologised for her comments.
