JFK’s grandson slams ‘obsessed’ Trump
US President Donald Trump has been slammed by JFK’s grandson.
In the aftermath of US President Donald Trump’s release of the Kennedy files, the billionaire businessman has drawn a significant level of anger from some members of JFK’s own bloodline.
In a series of fiery posts to X on Wednesday night, Jack Schlossberg – the assassinated president’s grandson and prominent US political correspondent – accused Mr Trump of being “obsessed” with his long-dead grandfather.
“President Trump is obsessed with my grandfather – but not in his life or what he achieved in it. No, just like Robert F Kennedy Jr, Trump is only interested in JFK’s carcass,” he said.
“These men are stealing history from present and future generations – by appropriating the past for their criminal agenda, they normalise themselves in the minds of those without living memory.”
Mr Schlossberg, 32, was educated at both Yale and Harvard, and has been published in several prominent American publications including Time, the Washington Post, New York Magazine and Politico.
In his current role as Vogue’s political correspondent, Mr Schlossberg has been an unapologetic supporter of the Democrats, and even spoke at the DNC last year.
Speaking on his father’s legacy, Mr Schlossberg was quick to highlight Mr Trump’s disregard for Kennedy’s policies, despite an obvious decision to hijack the American public’s reverence for the cold-war era president.
“JFK drafted the civil rights act – Trump made DEI illegal. JFK stared down Russia and did not blink – Trump is Russia’s closest ally. JFK sent a man to the moon – Trump gave Elon the keys to Air Force One. JFK created USAID – Trump eliminated it,” he said.
“JFK fought fascism and communism. Trump is selling us out to tech warlords at home and abroad. JFK stood behind unions and labour, demanding healthcare (and) higher pay. Trump is stripping working families from lifesaving care and financial support.”
The Trump administration has engaged in a wide-ranging campaign of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) policy reversal since it took office in a move that the American Civil Liberties Union described as “a co-ordinated and deliberate attack on longstanding civil rights advancements.”
DEI rollbacks have included the removal of the “tqia+” in the US government’s official lgbtqia+ page, the removal of Arlington Cemetery website links about Black, Hispanic and female veterans and the erasure of a Pentagon web page dedicated to the Native American who raised the US Flag on Iwo Jima – one of the most iconic photographed moments in modern history.
Mr Schlossberg went on to call out MrTrump’s recent focus on seizing control of the American arts scene.
“JFK celebrated the arts and culture. Trump attacks artist’s identities, took over the Kennedy centre just to empty it out and pave it gold,” Mr Schlossberg said.
In recent viral footage, JD Vance attended a performance at the Kennedy centre where he was heckled by a vocally indignant crowd.
In the footage, a vocal chorus of boos are heard echoing through the centre as JD enters the famous American home of arts and culture.
Mr Schlossberg is the son of Caroline Kennedy, a celebrated author and US diplomat who, given her role as an ambassador for the United States, has generally elected to avoid commentary around Trump.
Despite her diplomatic attitude towards the current administration, she has vocally voiced her condemnation of RFK Jr’s appointment as health secretary, referring to him as a “predator” prior to his confirmation hearing in January.

Schlossberg received an outpouring of support from commenters, including those who were alive to see some of Kennedy’s achievements become fully realised.
“I was 12 years old when your grandpa passed away, and my entire family was devastated, including my Republican dad, grandpa and grandma,” a woman named Kathy said.
“JFK was truly loved by the world. It was a horrible time in history – one I will never forget. Keep up the good work Jack, your grandpa would be proud.”
