Donald Trump has begun his first full day as US President by starting the process of sacking around 1000 people within the government he deems not to be sufficiently behind his “Make America Great Again” agenda.
The list includes a celebrity chef on a government taskforce who refused to open a restaurant in Washington’s Trump Tower because he fell out with Mr Trump over his migration stance.
Tuesday, US time, will see the start of a crackdown on illegal immigration which could see raids in major cities.
On Monday Mr Trump immediately revoked 78 of Joe Biden’s policies and made his mark as he signed about 200 executive actions, memorandums and proclamations.
He set up the Department of Government Efficiency (named after the meme-coin), which is to be run by the ultra-wealthy Elon Musk. DOGE remains a temporary organisation as it has yet to be approved by Congress.
Mr Trump also declared there are only “two genders” and pardoned about 1500 people involved in the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol.
