Aussie host’s surprise cameo at Trump rally
The surprise clip was shown to the crowd at a Trump rally in North Carolina.
An Aussie television host has made a surprise cameo at one of Donald Trump’s latest campaign rallies.
A clip of presenter Peter Stefanovic talking about US inflation on Sky News was shown at the presidential candidate’s rally in Kingston, North Carolina on Monday morning AEDT.
The clip was part of a package shown to the crowd, before Mr Trump warned the US was turning into the “new Venezuela”.
“US inflation has hit a new 40-year high increasing by 9.1 per cent over the new financial year,” Stefanovic stated in the Sky News clip.
Peter Stefanovic is the younger brother of Karl Stefanovic and is currently a co-host of First Edition on Sky News Australia. He was previously a co-host of Weekend Today.
“Can you believe it? So if you want to end this disaster you must get out and vote,” Mr Trump said after the video was shown.
The rally in North Carolina began two hours late after Mr Trump appeared at an earlier rally in Pennsylvania.
At one point, Mr Trump seemingly got the two rallies mixed up, mistakenly suggesting that Pennsylvania Senate candidate David McCormick was in the crowd at the North Carolina rally.
“We have great Republicans running, and you have one of the best of all right here, David McCormick. Where is David?” he said in his speech to the North Carolina crowd.
“David is here around someplace. We just left him. He’s a great guy.”
Mr Trump will finish the day campaigning with a rally in Georgia on Sunday night local time.
Meanwhile, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has been out campaigning in Michigan for the second last day before polls close on Tuesday evening local time.
Ms Harris spoke heavily about the war in an effort to draw votes from Michigan’s large Arab-American population.
“As president, I will do everything in my power to end the war in Gaza, to bring home the hostages, end the suffering in Gaza, ensure Israel is secure and ensure the Palestinian people can ensure their right to dignity, freedom and self-determination,” she said.
