Unarmed man Jacob Blake shot 7 times in the back by Wisconsin police

The US has again erupted in protests after police shot an unarmed black American man seven times in the back in an attack caught on shocking video which is going viral.

The 18-second violent and dramatic footage, caught on a phone on Sunday afternoon, shows a man complying with police screaming orders for him to “move, move” as two male officers train their pistols directly at him.

Jacob Blake moves from one side of a vehicle parked on a suburban street in Kenosha, Wisconsin, a town on Lake Michigan, 60km south of Milwaukee.

Wearing dark shorts and a white singlet, the 29-year-old moves around the front of the car as one of officers moves in closer with his pointed gun.

When Mr Blake opens the car door and leans into the driver’s seat of the vehicle, the first officer starts shooting at close range and a second officer moves into position.

Three loud shots can be heard in quick succession, followed by another four.

As a woman screams and jumps up and down on the road next to the car, the chilling next sound is the horn of the car as Mr Blake appears to have slumped onto the steering wheel.

Incredibly, Jacob Blake survived the gunshot wounds and is fighting for his life in intensive care in a Wisconsin hospital.

It was later revealed that at the time of the shooting Mr Blake’s three children were in the car.

Hours later, Kenosha erupted in a protest with people taking to the streets and marching while chanting, “No Justice, no peace”.

A friend of Mr Blake’s, Daniel Poneman, posted on Twitter that reports of him being dead were untrue and that his family wanted people to know that.

“I just spoke to Jacob’s cousin @PaulyG103 in the hospital,” Mr Poneman tweeted.

“He said they need your prayers and not condolences. He is out of surgery and in the ICU.

“He can make it through this. He is fighting for his life. Please please please pray for Jacob Blake

It goes on to say: “officers provided immediate aid to the person. The person was transported via Fight For Life to Frouedtert Hospital, Milwaukee.

“The person is in a serious condition.”
The statement said the incident was turned by Kenosha Police over to the Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol.
